June 15: Next GFP social country western dance and board meeting

These boots are made for dancing

Last dance of the 2012-13 season! Come on down Saturday, June 15, for a non-alcoholic night of socializing and dancing (two-step, west and east coast, waltz, line dance and more).

Don’t know how?  Don’t have a partner? Don’t you fret none, just come for basic two-step lesson starting at 7 pm and a line dance lesson at 7:30 pm. Dancing starts at 8 pm.

* Why the last dance? Well, the hall we have is not air-conditioned and can get quite, well, unbearable in July and August. We’ll keep you posted with the local happenings and when the new schedule for 2013-14 gets finalized.

Board Meeting

You like GFP? Have ideas on growing us? Want to help run the it in some capacity? Join us for the last GFP board meeting for the 2012-13 season. We’ll be doing a wrap up of the year, checking in with folks on plans for GFP next season, and confirming our slate of officers for 2013-14. Pizza will be had.

June 8: Boston pride march

Come dance along Boston pride march with Gays For Patsy, Contra dancers, and queer tango. Meet Saturday, June 8, by 11 am in Copley Square by the red truck in front of 745 Boylston Street, Boston, MA. We’ll be doing line dances, contra, two step, and tango while we wait for the parade to start, then we’ll dance our way along the route. Happy Pride, Y’all.

If you’ve never done it before, please join us: it is exhilarating (and a bit exhausting). Sneakers, or really comfy cowboy boots, recommended.

And here’s a couple photos from last night’s dance. What a great turn out for a rainy evening. Even had a guy here from San Francisco! (Well, to be honest, he was meeting a friend and came to check us out). And the Renegaydes performance was fabulous.

Thanks to Art for teaching the two step lesson and the line dance. And it was fun taking over JP Licks after the dance (I was psyched to see that JP licks has candied ginger as a special flavor).

June 7-8: Boston Pride March and Queer Country Dance

Just a quick update and some details for the pride dance and march this weekend.

  • Meet up: 11 am in Copley Square, Boston
    Look for the red pickup truck. I’ll post an update friday night when I know more, but you can usually find us line dancing. We’ll be joining up with contra and swing dancers this year :)

What better way to celebrate pride than swinging that partner around the dance floor for a non-alcoholic night of socializing and dancing. Don’t have a partner you say? No worries, no partner necessary — come on down anyway (who knows, you might find one here… You’ll be guaranteed to find a few folks to dance the night away with).

New to dancing? Don’t you fret none, just come for basic lesson starting at 7 pm and a line dance lesson at 7:30 pm. Dancing starts at 8 pm.

With a month away from Stomp 2013!, our annual hoedown in Provincetown: April 26-28, we’ve been putting on the finishing touches: Friday night dance and Saturday workshops at the Paramount at the Crown & Anchor and Saturday night dance at Town Hall.
