Can you believe the summer went so fast? Our next Queer Country Social will be Sunday, September 14 fro 3-7 pm (why Sunday? well, our usual Saturday night was double booked by the church and they offered this).
Sunday dance in a nutshell:
- 3-4 pm Lessons
- 3-3:30 pm: Basic two-step with Julie
- 3:30-4 pm: Line dance with Julie
- 4-7 pm: Social dancing with Art spinning the discs (well pushing the buttons these days).
Cost: $8 members/$12 non-members
($15 Membership saves you $4 per dance!)
Come two-step, west-coast (and east-coast) swing, line dance, waltz, and more to contemporary country, r&b, and pop music. This is a non-alcolholic venue (it’s a church after all) but it’s one of the most welcoming places I’ve found for LGBTS folk who want to dance and socialize.
Texy Mexy Mamas — a Drag Infusion of Country Fried Latin Flare.
October 4: 6-9 pm • Club Cafe’s Moonshine Room, 209 Columbus Ave. Boston, MA 02116
cost: $15 (I believe, I’ll have more info on this soon)
It’s a fundraiser being put on by Serenity Jones as a fundraiser for The Casa Connection, supporting the Casa Hogar San Jose Orphanage in Colima, Mexico, with Art Sullivan DJing and leading a few simple line dances, there’s also a wet t-shirt contest, and a bunch of latin inspired dancing. It should be a hoot. I imagine it’s going to be a quick night but a lot of laughs.
Boston Open Dancesport: Same-Sex Ballroom Dancing
October (10?) -11 • Hynes Convension Center
I’m hoping to get more info on the schedule for these event. There’s a line dance and country competition as well as a full ballroom slate. I went last year and it was amazing, over-the-top, and quite inspiring. I’m totally jonesing to go. I ‘may’ even put my toes into the competition for line dancing (DHSS! of course!).
There’s more that I’m flaking on at the moment, but I’ll be sure to add it in soon.
