Summer queer country dancing opportunities.

While Gays for Patsy takes a summer break (you don’t want to be dancing in the church hall without an air-conditioning, believe me), what can you do for queer friendly country western dancing? Well there are two options off the top of my head:

“Straight” Events

A Night of Country Line Dancing
Saturday, June 29, 7-11 pm
Smokie’s Bar
Moose Lodge, North Reading, MA

A Night of Rockabilly/Country Swing
Saturday, July 13, lessons: 7:45 pm, dance: 8:30 to 11:30
(music will be swing and two step)
Boston Swing Dance Network
Featuring Memphis Rockabilly Band
Armenian Cultural Center, Watertown
Another “straight” venue.

Weekly queer-friendly options

  • Tuesday’s 7-10 pm, Dirty Water Saloon in Jamaica Plain, MA (Bella luna Restaurant in their Milky Way back dance floor). Two stepping, line dancing, east coast and west coast swing, cha-cha, and more.

I’ll be searching for other opportunities and post as I know.

I’ve posted the updated 2013-14 calendar and will be working with the board in August to plan out our 25th season and flesh out some ideas for workshops and potential other dances.

Have a great 4th of July
