Valentines Dance, February 15

Would you be mine... fer a swing around the dancefloor?

The valentines dance has been canceled due to snow! Our next dance is Saturday, March 15.

Renegaydes Rehearsing a New Routine

Ever thought about joining the Rengaydes? Have you joined before and find you miss it? We are starting a new nightclub-based routine chorographed by Ian to the song “Please Come to Boston” with an eye to perform it for our Stomp in April, the Denver Hoedown in May, and our Pride dance in June. Rehearsals are Sundays from 5-7 pm in Somerville. Contact Beth for more information.

GFP Stomp! Our P-town Hoedown Dates Set!

Mark your calendars! Friday-Sunday, April 25-27, Provincetown, MA. A weekend of dancing, instruction, and more. Ruth is firming up details (including a possible new venue for the Friday night dance and Saturday Lessons!). We got the application for Town Hall for Saturday night. More information to come but it’s looking to be a fun weekend.

Get High in Denver Memorial Day

Well, maybe in altitute. Join a bunch of us as we head to IGLCWDCA’s annual howdown, the Mile High Hoedown, this time in Denver Colorado. Almost a week of activities planned, but the essence is Thursday-Sunday, May 22-25, 2014. A bar crawl, seemingly hundreds of lessons on Friday and Saturday, Dances galore, Competitions, exhibitions (including our own ReneGAYdes and NYC’s Big Apple Ranch’s Manhattan Prairie Dogs). Hundreds of fellow dancers, and a great time to be held by all.

Up for some competitive dancing?

In October, the Boston Open Dancesport will host the 2014 North American Same-Sex Championship and will have a country dance line dance and couples catagories. I’m hoping to have a few line dance/social events this summer to have us learn, brush up, and embellish our line dance game. He’s working on getting it IGLCWDCA sanctioned and I’ll know the line dances and the couple dance catagories soon. Let me (Bob Sweeney) know if you’re interested. (I would love to compete in the polka… any takers?) Here’s a trailer for the Same-Sex ballroom documentary, Hot to Trot. Also Kalin is putting on Ballroom Dance Lessons February 6
